HCM City welcomes US adoption agencies
(31-10-2006)
HCM CITY — The HCM City People’s Committee has allowed two American adoption organisations to set up representative offices in the city.
Children’s House International and the Lutheran Social Service will now be able to assist American people with adopting Vietnamese babies in HCM City.
The Children’s House International office is located at 166/5/8 Ly Thai To St., Distrist 3, and the Lutherance Social Service office at 32 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh St., Binh Thanh Distrist.
The US and Viet Nam signed a bilateral agreement on June 21 last year which laid the groundwork for adoptions between the two countries to resume after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus.
In January this year the US Embassy in Ha Noi issued the first orphan immigrant visa to a Vietnamese child adopted by an American family under the agreement. — VNS
